Parker Middle School Bird-A-Thon 2009!
Welcome to the first Parker Middle School Bird-A-Thon! The purpose of this activity is to raise money for a granite bench to be placed in the school’s Bird Garden. Four years ago, students, parents, and scouts designed and built a beautiful Bird Garden in the front of the school by the sixth grade wing. This garden is being used by the entire school to extend and enrich their learning in an outdoor setting.
For three days, Wednesday – Friday, May 13 – 15, students, teachers and parents will count and record the number of bird species seen and heard on the grounds of the Parker Middle School. A list will be posted Friday evening of the total number of species seen. We are hoping to record 30 or so species.
How can you help? There are two ways.
1. Make a Per-Species Pledge.Pledge to donate a certain amount for every bird species seen by the Parker community during those three days. For example, pledge $0.25 per species and if we see 40 species of birds, your commitment would be $10.00. Or, pledge $1.00 per bird species seen and your commitment would be $40.00.
2. Make a General Donation.
Pledge a specific amount, irregardless of the number of bird species seen. For example, $5, $10, $25.
Mr. Williams will be leading bird walks on the grounds of the school each morning from 6:45 – 7:30 for interested students, teachers, and parents. We will meet at the front door. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support! Please make checks payable to: Parker Middle School. Checks may be dropped off at school or mailed to:
